Dear beautiful one,

I’m writing in honor of the lives that were lost in the Orlando massacre. My heart is aching and I’m sure you can relate to the flooding of feelings towards the offender and the victims. It is difficult to navigate all of the emotions that arise from such a horrific attack!

It is an act such as this that reminds me of why I take a strong stand for women, children and other minority groups. All the “ isms”, acts of discrimination and bigotry invite us to take action to create more justice, peace and equality in the world. My heart goes out to the LGBT community and feel even more passionate to support their right to be and have.

If I may, I’d like to make suggestions in regards to navigating a loss of this magnitude.

Tip # 1: Practice radical self-care. Even though you may not personally “know” the victims involved, we are all connected as human beings. These acts of hate and violence affect us as they are happening all over the world. It’s hard to see such contempt for a beautiful, fragile human life. Fear arises when such acts occur all over the world sporadically and in unpredictable, unfathomable ways.

Tip #2: Think about the ways you feel your (or a person you know) human right is being violated and take a STAND! Serve as an advocate for an organization or mission that stands for groups that are discriminated and marginalized–women, children, minorities, LGBT community, the elderly etc. Channel the energy to defend, protect and create safety into advocating for yourself and others. When you see or hear ANY injustice, speak your truth. Don’t stay silent!

Below are acts of kindness to generate more love, peace and care in the world.

  • product2Write a nice note to a family member or coworker.
  • Give someone a hug.
  • Compliment a stranger.
  • Tell everyone you love that you LOVE them daily.
  • Volunteer
  • Do something for a neighbor.
  • Share an inspirational quote with someone who needs cheering up.
  • Smile at strangers.

Sending heart and prayers to YOU and those impacted by horror and loss.

Please feel free to share your comments and thoughts. I’d love to hear from you!

From my heart,
